DeTrafford are due to welcome its first residents who are soon to move into "Elisabeth Gardens" which encompasses the renovated Elisabeth Mill & a new build urban village in Reddish.

The iconic Elisabeth Mill has been part of the landscape in Reddish since 1874 when it was commissioned by the great mill owner & philanthropist Sir William Henry Houldsworth. Named after William's wife Elisabeth it was built by renowned architects AH Stott & Sons of Oldham. It was originally used as cotton mill till 1958 and then had various commercial uses till finally closing its doors in 2003. Today Elisabeth Gardens shines proudly once again with views across Houldsworth Park and Houldsworth Golf Club which all fall within the Houldsworth Conservation Area.

DeTrafford have carefully developed the Mill to retain many of its original Victorian industrial features including the impressive communal atrium which spans from the ground floor to the roof allowing light one again to shine through the building. The Mill is flanked by a new build Urban Village comprising of a mix of 2,3 and 4 bed homes including apartments, back to back mews houses and duplexes. The "village" has a uniform design reminiscent of Victorian communities with landscaped squares and communal areas echoing Houldsworth's desire to create space for people to work, live, enjoy and interact in.

Gary Jackson, Founder and CEO at DeTrafford said: "It's great to see the origin al mill building redeveloped allowing another generation to be connected with Manchester's industrial heritage. We have worked hard to design and deliver a development that feels part of the past and the present, linking with the local community, helping towards enhancing the local area with homes where residents can thrive in. We look forward to welcoming our new residents."

Phase 1 (new build houses) was handed over on the 6th September and residents are due to move in over the next four weeks. Phase 2 and 3 are nearing completion. There is a total of 213 homes, comprising of 152 one and two bedroom apartments created in the renovated Elisabeth Mill and 61, one, two, three and four bed new build homes created in the adjacent Urban Village.
