Pupils from The Winsford Academy have taken part in a sponsored walk for St Luke's Hospice, helping to raise an amazing £5471.60 for patient care.
Over 700 children were involved in the 'walk' which took place before the summer holidays in July, with many students and their families raising over £100 each in sponsorship.
The sponsored charity walk was organised by Vice Principal Mr Curran, who had done similar charity walks at his previous school in Macclesfield.
He said: "We know that St Luke's are a key part of the community here in Winsford. They were also a popular pick amongst pupils and staff so we were very happy to offer our support."
One of those that helped to raise over £100 in donations was year 9 student Marcus Singh (pictured middle right), he said: "We were happy to help out such a worthy cause."
St Luke's Community Partnerships Fundraiser, Rachel Hughes said: "We have such amazing support from all of our local schools and The Winsford Academy is absolutely no exception. We couldn't believe how much the students raised for St Luke's! This isn't the first time that they have done a sponsored walk for us. Some of the students, staff and their families have personally used our services and this is one of the reasons the school had chosen to support us once again. It's fantastic and we wouldn't be here without our community."
As well as raising thousands for their local Hospice, the students were also complimented on their behaviour throughout the walk by members of the public.
