Last Sunday, Tytherington School PE teacher, Matt Harvey, completed the London Marathon in aid of the British Heart Foundation. At the time of writing, Mr Harvey is on his way to raising nearly £4000 for the charity. A range of school sponsorship events across the last few months has helped Mr Harvey to reach this impressive figure.

Mr Harvey chose to raise money for the British Heart Foundation after his father-in-law sadly passed away having suffered a cardiac arrest in 2017 at the age of 65.

Mr Harvey said: "I ran the London Marathon to raise money for British Heart Foundation in memory of Sean (my father-in-law). I'm raising money for anybody who has ever been affected by heart and circulatory disease. My Dad was incredibly lucky to have survived a heart attack in late December 2009. I still remember it like it was yesterday. He subsequently had a quadruple heart bypass and is doing amazingly well. It's thanks to the amazing Doctors, scientists and the support from charities such as the BHF that new treatments and cures are being developed."

In the last few months Mr Harvey had to overcome injury and covid but was still able to make it over the line. There's still time to donate. Please visit https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/runlondon22
