Leading developer David Wilson Homes North West has donated £1,000 to Wilmslow Wolves Rugby Club to cover the cost of their pre-season tour bus that will transport them to Marlow for their rugby festival.

Originally founded in 1884, the rugby club has been at the heart of the Wilmslow community for well over a century and boasts a total of 250 players and members spread across 19 different teams.

After being delayed numerous times due to the pandemic and restrictions, the tour for the Under 11's team was finally able to take place at the beginning of April and the players were very excited to be able to showcase their skills.

Richard Hughes, Head Coach of the U11's at Wilmslow Wolves Rugby Club, said: "We are so happy that we were finally able to proceed with the pre-season tour for our junior team. After the pandemic it is crucial that the boys get back to playing, socialising and learning new skills.

"The amazing donation from David Wilson Homes covered the tour bus rental, which had been one of the biggest costs posed to the parents and families of the players and the club. It is always important to support the local groups and organisations that help make the community what it is.

"As grateful as we are to David Wilson Homes for their donation, we would also like to say a tremendous thank you to the dedicated U11's coaches at Wilmslow Wolves, who give all of their time voluntarily."

The pandemic was a testing time for many charities and organisations across the UK, and Wilmslow Wolves Rugby Club was no different. The club had to temporarily put a stop to much of its activity, limiting the time the players could spend honing their skills with their friends.

Robert Holbrook, Managing Director of David Wilson Homes North West, said: "As a leading developer it is really important that we support the community in the areas in which we build.

"Wilmslow Wolves Rugby Club is doing great work in the local area to offer children a safe and productive environment for them to make new friends and have fun playing rugby. We are very proud to support the club and we hope the tour was a great success."
