The King's School has elected its School Officers to lead the student body during the school's final year in its current buildings and relocation to its new £60m campus.

It will be an exciting time for School Captains Kieran Cullen and Sarah Abrahamase, and one they are determined to execute with generosity of spirit. They will be supported by four Vice Captains to make up the student's senior leadership team, who are responsible for organising prefect duties, liaising with staff and senior management and acting as ambassadors for King's in the wider community.

Kieran, 17, from Macclesfield, who is studying A Levels Chemistry, Biology, Maths and English Literature and wants to read Medicine, preferably at Cambridge, said: "We have all loved being in King's current buildings, but it is such an exciting time as the school builds its new home for next 500 years."

Kieran, who is national award winner for the Model United Nations and has sung with the Foundation Choir all over Britain and Europe, added: "We all recognise that it is the dawn of a newera and the start of something wonderful for those who will follow us. We are keen to make the final year here very special for all the students and staff and look forward to many years of visiting the new campus as alumni."

Kieran is joined by Sarah Abrahamase, 17, from Congleton, a keen photographer and swimmer, who is studying Maths, German and Psychology and wants to read Psychology with Linguistics at university. Considering her appointment as School Captain, she said: "I think social skills are very important. being able to talk to everyone of all ages and represent the views of the students to the staff."

Maryam Ghaznavi, 17, from Alderley Edge, who volunteers on the school's dementia care programme, said: "I want to maintain the friendly spirit that exists in the school."

Jonny Murray, 17, from Wilmslow, a squash and hockey player, added: "We all want to promote a sense of well-being and generosity of spirit."

Halle youth Orchestra cellist Aisling Day, 17, from Macclesfield, said: "Above all. I feel it's important to be a good role model and someone the younger children can approach."

County cross country runner Peter Goodfellow, 17, from Siddington, concluded: "Our year has always had a really good dynamic and I think the final year here is going to be very special for all of us."

Sixth formers and teachers all voted before Headmaster Dr Simon Hyde and the Principal of the Sixth Form Richard Davies chose from a short list.

Richard Davies said: "I'm delighted that King's has such a strong group of leaders who will be able to lead the way for the rest of our school community."
