Beech Hall School is investing heavily in its facilities with a new 1,000 sq. ft Science and Technology building, commencing with a first demolition to get the high-anticipated project underway.
The new building will house a state-of-the-art Science laboratory, Design Technology practical workshop and CAD (Computer Aided Design) classroom. Boys and girls changing rooms will also be a key feature, as well as a substantial disabled WC and wet room.
In preparation for use on the first day of the new academic year in September, the school has been working with Modulek, to design, obtain planning permission and create the modular building in replacement of the current facility.
Eager pupils were given the much-coveted opportunity to be actively involved in the design of the latest addition to the Tytherington-based school, making a series of noteworthy decisions in terms of the DT flooring and worktop colours, as well as shower cubicles and wet room floor.
Headmaster James Allen commented: "The new building is a tremendously exciting development for Beech Hall School as we continue to advance our outstanding facilities to provide our pupils with a twenty-first century education.
"We invited the top twenty-four merit earners from last term to start knocking down the building, armed with sledgehammers, safety goggles and safety helmets - and they did so with enthusiasm! We very much look forward to seeing the end result and putting the new amenities to good use."
