Summer must be here as Whitby Masonic Hall its annual 'BBQ and Open Day' last weekend, an event which was once again supported by the local community. The BBQ was open to masons and non-masons alike as well as Family and Friends and was again supported by the 'Widows Sons' Masonic Bikers Association who's bikes always prove to be a very popular attraction. The organisers put on some traditional 'fete' favourites including a Bouncy Castle, Coconut Shy and of couse Gook a Duck, and attendees were delighted to see a special visit from Minnie Mouse and a Minion. The event is now a firm diary date in June and goes from strength to strength. And thankfully the weather was kind - on this occasion.
As well as being a great social event, all monies raised during the day are combined with other charitable money raised or donated by Cheshire Freemasons and given to local good causes. The little amounts soon add up and in the past 12 months, approx. £1Million was given to good causes across Cheshire and the Wirral by Cheshire Freemasons. This figure increases to approx. £48 Million in terms of charitable giving by Freemasons when you look across England as a whole.
